“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

Happy International Literacy Day!
If you didn't know already, you can often get some great deals on books
today (September 8) since it is literacy day. Sorry I didn't let you now
about this sooner!
I thought I'd mention a few of
my children's favorite books as part of literacy day. They love tons of books but these are some of the ones they are
into right now. Your library should have all or most of them. Let me (and others) know some of your favorite books too! Just list them in the comment section below.
Dr. Seuss aka Theodor Seuss Geisel Books. We love everything Dr Seuss, but we especially love
Green Eggs and Ham,
The Cat in the Hat,
I Can Read with my Eyes Shut (Jacob's favorite right now),
Fox in Socks,
Oh, The Places You'll Go! OK that's enough for now!
Sarah Boynton's Books.. We especially love
The Going-To-Bed Book,
Moo, Baa, La La La! and
Blue Hat, Green Hat (gets my kids to giggle every time!)
Peekaboo Dress Up and
Peekaboo Farm. Some fun lift the flap, color and touch and feel books all in one. And like all DK books I've seen, the pictures are awesome.
I Love You Through And Through
The Giving Tree
On the Night You Were Born. Tears me up each time I read it and my 4 year old feels so special while we read it.
The Real Mother Goose Board Book
Love You Forever. I admit I think of the show Friends whenever I read this ;)
Where the Wild Things Are (not for really little ones who may get scared)
Little Critter Books. This might be 4 year old Joshua's favorite collection right now. Every so often Costco will sell them for really cheap.
Berenstain Bear Books. My son looks at the back of the books and asks to read every other book in the collection it shows, just like I did when I was a child. I used to day dream about reading all of them :)
Curious George Books
Goodnight Moon Our favorite of the
Margaret Wise Brown Books so far and one we often read before bed at night.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Harold and the Purple Crayon. We have a few other Harold books but this one is still our favorite.
Dr. Xargle's Book of Earthlets (really young kids won't get it but it'll make you laugh out loud!)
Corduroy. This was even one of my favorite books as a child. The other books in the series are fun too.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. My 4 year old gets a kick out of this one!
The Mitten. This is another book I remember reading as a child. I can still remember where I was at and what time of day it was the first time it was read to me. We have a really ornate one that my kids love to look at.
