Signs of Sleep Deprivation

Signs of sleep deprivation include fussiness (especially if it is just in the late afternoon/evening and the child is over 3 months of age) increased clinginess, not eating well, laziness, easily becoming frustrated, irritated or bored, and new or increased problems with sleep such as
starting to get up at night for the first time or fighting going to sleep. In older children signs of sleep deprivation may also include headaches and vague abdominal pain, especially in the evening as well as decreased ability to control themselves resulting in disobedience and more tantrums.

Signs of sleep deprivation may not always be obvious. They may be very subtle and not noticeable until your baby starts to sleep more and you are able to compare their new, improved demeanor to their old demeanor.
